Socratic Seminar Answers to Questions

3rd period:
1. Yes, in so much as animal rights affect human rights. Better treatment of animals to prevent negative impacts on human food chain.
2. Yes, but many Americans just don't care. The bottom line is consumer choice.
3. Consumers, companies and government acting together.
4. Stricter standards for production; massive education movement to educate consumers.
5. yes, we should consider where it's from and who is picking/processingtransporting. Impacts food quality and overall quality of human life.
6. Company doesn't matter, it's the quality of the product and the practices the company uses to produce that product.
7. As a class, no problem with manipulation, but big problem with economic impact.
8. What's in it, where it's produced, how it's produced should be provided via internet.


6th period:
1. Animal rights should be a priority up until the point it raises the costs of production.
2. Yes, should be available but it is the consumer's responsibility to investigate.
3. A joint effort between consumers (boycotting products) and government regulation.
4. Yes, prices need to be lower for quality food in stores. The government needs to stop subsidizing cheap foods.
5. Definitely consider where it is from. Local when readily available.
6. No, but the track recor4d of the company is very important.
7. Yes, but the the laws governing patents and copyrights need to be changed as it is the system itself that is at fault.
8. No, there should be government regulation with companies abiding by set standards. Companies should provide free access to information via websites, social media, etc.
